Visiting the Formes de Design Exhibition organised by APCI, the agency for promoting industrial creation, at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie (City of Science and Industry) in Paris, is a source of inspiration and reflection. We have the opportunity to discover 165 innovative projects selected on 28 November by the Design Observatory judges for 2013, including 25 prize winners.
Street furniture is well represented with fascinating projects such as street bins, bicycle garages, bus stop bollards and ticket validation systems for public transport.
Grand projects have also been unveiled including the ‘Quatrième paysage de Tours’ (The Fourth Landscape of Tours), the first tramway designed for the French city of Tours. This is the result of unprecedented desire to place design at the heart of urban projects.
Comprising 21 rails, 29 stations, a maintenance centre, works of art and park ‘n’ ride car parks, the tramway is more than just a means of public transport. It’s 15km stretch of beautiful artworks. It was designed by RCP Design Global design and communication agency, a group of designers and artists including Daniel Buren, Louis Dandrel and Roger Tallon.
See all the prize-winning projects here until 23 March 2014.
