The 250m² vertical garden set up Patrick Blanc in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris is now fully mature.
Unveiled on 10th September during Paris Design Week, the ‘Oasis of Aboukir’ holds 7,600 flourishing plants from 237 different species.
Based on a private initiative, the garden is part of an international project. Patrick Blanc has created the world’s highest vertical gardens in Sydney (150m) and Kuala Lumpur (200m) with architect Jean Nouvel. He also planted 70 columns for the new Miami Art Museum with Herzog and de Meuron, as well as creating vertical gardens in desert areas such as Bahrein.
Is this the future of our cities?
